5 Unconventional Ways to Celebrate Diwali

With Diwali round the corner, there is a lot of chatter about everyone’s plans. While it is not news that the tradition of going home is prevalent, quite a few of us who will be celebrating Diwali the unconventional way- away from home. If you are one of them then here are a few things you can do to have a real blast this Diwali!

  1. Get into the festive spirit

New clothes and beautiful surroundings are the premise of Diwali.  Since you are boss, capitalize on Diwali sales everywhere and jazz up your wardrobe. It’s the perfect time to go ahead with the long overdue cleaning of your room and deck it up with your style of lighting and posters.  Plan in advance and get the basics out of the way

  1. Spend time with your chosen family, aka good friends

While sometimes your extended family can get to your nerves with their ‘concern’ and questions, your friends will always ensure you have a great time! So get together this season and celebrate Diwali your way and your style.

  1. Indulge in a Festive Feast

Food is what makes a festival. Make it a point to indulge in delicious and authentic Desi Delicacies. Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhni, Biryani… just get it all!

And oh! Do not forget to appease your sweet tooth with festive desserts like Gulab Jamun and Moong Dal Halwa!

  1. Netflix and Chill

Yes we mean it in the literal sense. 😉 There is nothing like a rare and quiet day, away from all the commotion. Spend it with your favourite movies and TV shows and binge on some tantalizing snacks while you are at it!

  1. Be the Festival

Festivals are meant for spreading happiness and cheer. This Diwali, why not act as a medium for it. Volunteer with an NGO and give back to the community. Spread the light in your own way and make a difference.
